I’ve tried to meditate before, but my mind just won’t quiet down. Are you sure this meditation will work for me?
Yes. It’s actually perfect for you. With Vedic meditation we don’t try to control the mind or make it quiet. We let the mind do what it does, chatter. We just add one more thing: the mantra. By repeating this sound in a very specific and effortless fashion, our systems begin to de-excite, with the mind and body settling down into a deep state of relaxation. Vedic meditation is a very simple and effective technique that anyone can master with the proper instruction.
How long does it take to get really good at it?
By the time you finish the course, at the end of four days, you’ll be a self-sufficient meditator. From that point on, you’ll be able to successfully meditate anywhere you can sit comfortably and feel safe with your eyes closed, back supported and head and neck free.
How is it different from other types of meditation?
Vedic meditation is an effortless form of meditation. We don’t concentrate or focus on the breath. We don’t send out thoughts or energy, use guided imagery, gongs or music. It’s simple. Streamlined. Trying is prohibited. If you can think, you can meditate.
How soon will I start feeling blissed out?
Results vary, but many people notice that their minds and bodies feel more relaxed after the very first time they meditate. Often, people who don’t notice a difference in themselves early on are surprised to find friends and family actually commenting that they’re more pleasant to be around after just a few days meditating. So do your loved ones a favor. Learn to meditate.
Do I have to take on any new religious beliefs to practice this?
Nope. This is not a religious practice, it’s a very specific mental relaxation technique that anyone can do. Many confirmed atheists report great success with practicing Vedic Meditation without embracing religion of any kind.
Can I also practice other forms of meditation?
Sure. Just not at the same time. Vedic Meditation can be a great complement to other practices, such as mindfulness.
How much does it cost to learn?
The standard course fee is $800, but I offer a sliding scale. For me, the gift of learning this form of meditation was priceless. That’s why I don’t think of this charge as payment for the practice itself. Instead, it’s for my time and availability to teach and support you for the four days of instruction and beyond. If you can’t afford to pay the entire fee upfront, let’s talk about setting up a plan to pay in installments. If you want to learn, I’d like to find a way to teach you.
Do you teach kids?
Yes! Kids ages 8-12 can learn free of charge. The only requirement is that they create a piece of art to bring along with them on the day of instruction.Teens ages 13-18 can learn at a reduced rate or by performing a set number of community service hours before learning. Contact me for details.
